Tuna sashimi at Han Kitchen in Zurich-Oerlikon is 4 pieces of raw tuna from Vietnam for CHF 14.00. In Japanese, raw tuna is called «maguro» – you will also find it on our menu as maguro nigiri and in the tekka maki.
Tuna as sashimi: bolder than salmon
Alongside salmon, tuna is the classic sashimi fish. It is deep red, firmer in texture and has a bolder, leaner flavour. Try both and you will notice the difference straight away – which is why plenty of guests order tuna and salmon sashimi together.
Our tuna comes from Vietnam, as stated on the menu. For sashimi it is served simply sliced, without rice. A portion is 4 pieces – enough for a taste or a starter rather than a full meal.
If you only know tuna from sushi, it is easy to ease in: maguro nigiri (2 pieces, CHF 10.00) pair the fish with rice, while sashimi shows it on its own. Order both and you get a direct comparison of how differently the same tuna comes across.
Tuna across our menu
Tuna runs right through our Japanese menu. If you like the sashimi, try it as tuna tartare (CHF 19.00), tuna tataki (6 pieces, CHF 19.50), maguro nigiri (2 pieces, CHF 10.00) or tekka maki (6 pieces, CHF 10.00). One thing worth knowing: according to the menu, the maguro roll is made with cooked tuna – a good choice if you would rather avoid raw fish.
For a small meal, pair the tuna sashimi with edamame (CHF 7.00) or a Japanese-style green salad (CHF 8.50). Our food is cooked by a former chef of Globus Bellevue in Zurich.
