Salmon Maki is the classic among our maki: 6 pieces with Norwegian salmon wrapped in nori for CHF 10.00. Enjoy it at Han Kitchen, Baumackerstrasse 46 in Zurich Oerlikon, or pick it up to take away.
Salmon, rice and nori – nothing more needed
A maki has just one filling, and in our Salmon Maki that is raw salmon. According to our menu it comes from Norway, and it brings what so many people love about sushi: a mild, buttery flavour and a tender texture. It is wrapped in sushi rice and a sheet of nori on the outside, which gives the roll its typical, gently salty taste of the sea.
In Japanese, salmon is called «sake» (not to be confused with rice wine), which is why salmon maki is often known as sake maki in Japan. On our menu it is simply Lachs Maki – salmon maki – with 6 pieces per portion.
Salmon maki, salmon nigiri or salmon sashimi?
Salmon appears on our sushi menu in several forms, each with its own emphasis. In the Salmon Maki (CHF 10.00) the fish is rolled in rice and nori – nicely balanced, in small pieces. In the Salmon Nigiri (CHF 9.00 for 2 pieces) a slice of salmon rests on a hand-shaped ball of rice. And the Salmon Sashimi (CHF 13.00 for 4 pieces) is the fish on its own, with no rice at all.
For a salmon feast for two, a mix of all three works brilliantly. If you like things creamier, choose the Salmon & Avocado Maki instead – it is the same price, CHF 10.00.
