Bibimbap at Han Kitchen in Zurich-Oerlikon
In short

Bibimbap is probably Korea’s most famous dish: a bowl of rice topped with beef, vegetables, a fried egg and a sauce that ties it all together when you mix. At Han Kitchen, Baumackerstrasse 46 in Zurich-Oerlikon, bibimbap costs CHF 32.90 and the vegetarian Vegi Bibimbap CHF 29.90 – to eat in or take away.

What is bibimbap?

The name tells you everything: “bibim” means to mix and “bap” means cooked rice, so bibimbap is literally “mixed rice”. It arrives as a bowl of warm rice with the toppings arranged side by side – each component kept separate so that colour, texture and flavour stay distinct.

Only when you eat do you stir everything together with the sauce. Every mouthful brings a slightly different combination of rice, vegetables, egg and seasoning, which is what makes bibimbap both simple and surprisingly layered.

How we serve bibimbap at Han Kitchen

Our bibimbap comes with rice, beef, vegetables and a fried egg, and you choose your sauce. The beef is from Switzerland. For us the fried egg is essential: the soft yolk coats the rice as you mix and rounds the whole dish off. Prefer to eat each part on its own? That’s perfectly fine too.

Our food is cooked by a former chef of Globus Bellevue in Zurich. With a dish as seemingly simple as bibimbap, care in the details makes all the difference.

Vegetarian bibimbap for CHF 29.90

Bibimbap works beautifully without meat, because the vegetables are the stars anyway. Our Vegi Bibimbap (야채 비빔밥, Vegi Bibimbab on the menu) leaves out the beef but stays hearty and filling – served with rice, vegetables, a fried egg and your choice of sauce, for CHF 29.90.

Bibimbap for two or for a group

Bibimbap is a dish for one, but it combines well with others. If there are two of you, order a bibimbap plus a second Korean dish such as japchae (CHF 28.90) or so bulgogi (CHF 36.90) and share. Gyoza (CHF 14.50) or edamame (CHF 7.00) make a good start. For groups of 9 or more we plan your table with you personally, and for events or larger orders there is our event & catering enquiry.
