Han Kitchen serves salmon sashimi at Baumackerstrasse 46 in Zurich-Oerlikon: 4 slices of raw Norwegian salmon for CHF 13.00, served on its own without rice. Enjoy it in the restaurant or call ahead and pick it up as takeaway.
Just the salmon – what you get
Sashimi is the purest way to eat fish: the salmon is sliced and served without rice. Unlike nigiri or maki, there is nothing for the fish to hide behind – colour, texture and flavour have to stand on their own. That is why many guests treat salmon sashimi as the honest test of a Japanese kitchen.
Our salmon comes from Norway, exactly as stated on the menu. A portion is 4 pieces – deliberately modest, so it works as a starter for two, as a side to a main course or as a light bite when you just fancy something fresh.
How to pair salmon sashimi
If you are looking for sashimi in Zurich, you probably want to try more than one fish. Share the salmon sashimi with our tuna sashimi (4 pieces, CHF 14.00) and you have Norwegian salmon and Vietnamese tuna side by side. Add a miso soup (CHF 6.00) or a seaweed salad (CHF 7.00) and you have a small Japanese meal.
Hungrier? Have the sashimi as a starter before a salmon donburi (CHF 28.00) or a Korean main such as bibimbap. Our food is cooked by a former chef of Globus Bellevue in Zurich.
Sashimi, nigiri or maki?
Our Norwegian salmon comes in several forms. As salmon nigiri (2 pieces, CHF 9.00) it sits on hand-shaped rice; as salmon maki (6 pieces, CHF 10.00) it is rolled in nori. With sashimi the rice disappears altogether and you taste only the fish. First-timers often add a portion of nigiri and compare the two.
