Our tuna tartare is a Japanese-style tartare of raw tuna from Vietnam, finely chopped, for CHF 19.00 at Han Kitchen in Zurich-Oerlikon. Enjoy it in the restaurant at Baumackerstrasse 46 or call ahead and take it away.
Tuna tartare instead of steak tartare
In Switzerland, tartare usually means beef. Japanese-inspired cooking chops raw fish instead and seasons it – much like sashimi, it is all about the quality of the fish. Tuna brings a deep red colour, a firm bite and a bold, lean flavour.
On our menu the dish is simply called «Tuna Tatar», described as tuna tartare made the Japanese way. Some guests search for it as «Japanese tartare» – it is the same dish.
Tuna from Vietnam
According to our menu, our tuna comes from Vietnam. We also use it for tuna sashimi (4 pieces, CHF 14.00), tuna tataki (6 pieces, CHF 19.50) and sushi such as maguro nigiri and tekka maki. Our food is cooked by a former chef of Globus Bellevue in Zurich.
The tuna tartare is served raw. If you would rather avoid raw fish, the maguro roll is made with cooked tuna (4 pieces, CHF 11.00). Our menu lists gluten, dairy, eggs, soy, nuts, shellfish and sesame as possible allergens, so do tell us what to look out for.
Tuna or salmon? Two tartares to choose from
Alongside the tuna tartare we also serve salmon tartare made with Norwegian salmon for CHF 18.00. Salmon is milder and softer, tuna more robust. If there are two of you, order both and compare.
For a light lunch (Tuesday to Friday from 11:30), have the tuna tartare with a miso soup (CHF 6.00) or edamame (CHF 7.00). In the evening it makes a starter before a Korean main such as kimchi jeyuk bokkeum, or before a zukedon.
