In short

Seaweed salad is a light, vegetarian starter from Japanese cooking – fresh, with a gentle taste of the sea and a pleasant bite. At Han Kitchen in Zurich-Oerlikon our seaweed salad costs CHF 7.00.

What is Japanese seaweed salad?

Seaweed has been part of Japanese cooking for centuries. Salads often use wakame, a delicate brown seaweed you may know from miso soup. A very popular version is goma wakame: thinly cut seaweed in a dressing of sesame, rice vinegar and a touch of sweetness. Ask us in the restaurant which seaweed and dressing we use.

What goes with seaweed salad?

Seaweed salad is cool, tangy and refreshing – a counterweight to warm, spicy food. It works before a fiery Korean dish such as kimchi jeyuk bokkeum just as well as next to sushi or sashimi. It’s marked as vegetarian on our menu; together with edamame (CHF 7.00) it makes a small vegetarian opener to share.
